Who we are
This website is Crazy Science Games, at crazysciencegames.com. Sticky Pig Studios makes it, in the United Kingdom.
The short version
You can play every game without an account. We never ask for your name, age, school or email address to play. We don't use tracking cookies, show adverts or build a profile of you.
There is a one-page list of everything the site saves and sends, with examples.
When you play a game
Your best score and your settings, such as sound on or off, are saved in your own browser. This is called local storage. It stays on your device and we can't see it. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
The game also tells our server that a game started, finished or was played again. We add these up as totals for each game. We don't receive your answers, your score or anything that says who you are.
When you open any page
Your browser tells our server which page you opened and the name of the website you came from, such as google.com. Our server adds the country the visit came from. We add one to a daily total and keep only the totals.
We don't store IP addresses, and we don't give you a visitor ID. To count one visit as one visit, your browser keeps a small note while the tab is open. The note says nothing about you, and it disappears when you close the tab.
Cloudflare delivers the website to your device. It also measures how fast pages load, and it reports that to us as totals. The only other company that receives anything is Buttondown, and only if you join the email list.
When you send us something
You can choose to rate a game, report a bug or suggest a game. We store what you send: the game, your thumbs up or down, and any words you typed. We never ask for your name or email address in these forms, so please don't type them.
If the games search finds nothing, we count the words you searched for, so we can see what people look for and can't find. We throw the words away if they contain a number, an @ sign or a web address, or if there are more than four of them.
If you join the email list
The email list is for teachers. If you give us your email address, a service called Buttondown stores it. Crazy Science Games shares its list with our sister site, Crazy Maths Games, and your address is marked as interested in science.
We send one short email when we add a game or a guide, and nothing else. We never share your address. Every email has a link to leave the list.
Cookies
We don't set cookies. Our fonts come from our own server. The only script from another company is Cloudflare's page speed measurement, and it doesn't use cookies either.
Children and the Children's Code
Many of our players are under 18, so we treat every visitor as if they might be a child. We follow the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, also called the Children's Code, which the Information Commissioner's Office enforces. In practice that means we collect as little as we can.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. For most visitors the answer is nothing, because we never learn who you are. If you joined the email list, you can leave it at any time from any email.
To ask about your data, use the contact page.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will change the date at the top of the page. If we ever collect something new, we will say so clearly on this page first.
