What is on the Edexcel sheet
Edexcel uses one table for Chemistry (1CH0) and Combined Science (1SC0), at Foundation and Higher tier. It shows 72 elements.
In each box you read down from the mass. Next come the symbol and the name, and the atomic number is last. The atomic number counts the protons in one atom.
The group numbers along the top run 1 to 7 and finish with 0. That last column holds the noble gases, such as helium and neon.
Where the table ends
Edexcel's table stops after radon, atomic number 86. Francium, radium and every element after them have no box. A note on the sheet also says elements 58 to 71 are left out.
The masses match AQA's for every element both boards print. Copper is 63.5 and chlorine is 35.5, and every other mass is a whole number. See the AQA GCSE table to compare.
Worked example: sulfuric acid
To find a relative formula mass, count the atoms of each element, multiply by that element's mass and add. Sulfuric acid, H2SO4, has two hydrogen atoms, one sulfur and four oxygen.
- H: 2 × 1 = 2
- S: 1 × 32 = 32
- O: 4 × 16 = 64
- Total: 2 + 32 + 64 = 98

Edexcel periodic table questions
Why is there no period 7 on the Edexcel periodic table?
Edexcel's sheet ends at radon, so francium, radium and the heavier elements have no box. The sheet gives no note about this.
Is the Edexcel periodic table the same for Chemistry and Combined Science?
Yes. Pearson uses the same periodic table in GCSE Chemistry and Combined Science papers, at both tiers.
Does Edexcel round copper and chlorine?
No. Copper stays at 63.5 and chlorine at 35.5, and a line under the table says so.
